Apply Now: YMCA Handball Leadership Program with Charity of Hope Scholarship Opportunities

High school and first-year post-students are invited to apply for a 12-week handball leadership program that offers a chance to earn up to $10,000 in scholarships from Charity of Hope.  

Thanks to a partnership between YMCA Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford, the Charity of Hope, and the Sam & Roma Mercanti Foundation, the One Wall. One Cause initiative is designed to empower youth through sport. Participants will develop leadership skills, build confidence, and learn the exciting game of handball—all while giving back by promoting the sport within their schools and communities.

Sixteen students will be selected to participate in weekly two-hour training sessions at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA. No prior handball experience is required. The program is open to students currently in Grades 11 or 12, or in their first year of post-secondary education. All participants will receive a complimentary three-month YMCA membership and handball equipment.

The program will culminate with the Handball for Hope Signature Event September 14 at Carmen's Event Centre. It is at this event that the $10,000 Charity of Hope scholarship and several $2,500 Charity of Hope scholarships recipients will be announced.
