There is nothing like escaping to YMCA Wanakita for a weekend to recharge the batteries of life.
During the spring, fall and winter seasons, YMCA Wanakita offers numerous getaways. Whether you are interested in recharging by attending one of the Women's Wellness Weekends, our bringing the whole family to a family getaway program, or want to give back to camp by volunteering, we have many opportunities for you to join us at camp throughout the year!
Wanakita Women’s Weekends are designed as a healthy retreat where you can connect with friends, enjoy the outdoors, eat healthy delicious meals and recharge in nature. We have a full range of traditional camp activities here for you to enjoy, including paddling, interpretive nature walks, ropes courses, and so much more. This safe and supportive environment is the perfect place to try something new or revisit your favorite activities from your past.
In addition to traditional camp activities, Women’s Wellness Weekend features delicious menus, yoga, and other unique offerings designed to enhance your well-being in spirit mind and body, in either the beautiful fall or dazzling winter seasons.

Modeled on our Summer Family Camp Program, our Family Getaways are opportunities for your family to experience YMCA Wanakita outside of the summer months. Family Getaways range from weekend programs to week-long programs such as March Break, and New Year’s Family Camps.
If you are interested in our Summer Family Camp program, but want to have a quick test of what the experience might be like without staying the full week, come for one of our Family Getaway weekends in the Spring. Programs are much the same and we aim to provide a similar experience as our summer program.

Our Outdoor Centre Team is well trained in providing a variety of age-appropriate programs, allowing family members to participate together or independently in as much or as little as you like. This is a great way to reconnect and strengthen your family.
If YMCA Wanakita has positively impacted you or your family, consider giving back to your camp community by volunteering for one of our Work Weekends.
All participants and staff work to improve the site, clean up camp, and get ready for the next season. Work details may include painting, wood gathering and equipment storage. All must be ready and able to work, eat lots of food, and have a wheelbarrow full of fun. Help keep your camp the best it can be. We generally hold these weekends in April, June and October.

Similar to our New Year's program, our March Break Family Camp offers a week long program for families to play together at YMCA Wanakita. If the weather cooperates, the maple sap will be running and campers will also get to learn about maple syrup production.
Activities focus on participating and enjoying Haliburton's winter wonderland. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and broomball are some of the ways that your family can experience our site in the winter.
