We're exciting to announce that our nominee, Abdul has been awarded a Ted Rogers Scholarship to pursue his educational goals. The Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund aims to provide access to post-secondary education and reward youth who demonstrate community leadership.

YMCA Immigrant Services first met Abdul when he arrived from Syria with his family in 2016. After surviving and escaping war, living in multiple refugee camps, and arriving with nothing, Abdul committed himself to improving his English so he could return to mainstream academics.

This bright young man achieved a 95% average. In addition he has stepped up as a volunteer, peer leader and exceptional role role model  at the YMCA Newcomer Youth Centre.

Thank you Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund for recognizing potential in our young people! The YMCA is a proud scholarship partner of the Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund, helping to identify and recognize bright young leaders, like Abdul.
