Impact of Potential CUPE Job Action – YMCA Child Care Programs
Thursday, October 3, 2019

There is significant media attention today about the potential impact of the job action currently underway by the Canadian Union of Public Employees [CUPE].

We are actively working with our School Board partners across Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford to understand and respond to any potential impacts which might affect the operation of our YMCA programs in school locations as early as next week, should CUPE works move to full strike action.

We recognize the challenge potential impacts might have for our YMCA families. In the event of a full withdrawal of service some of our programs may have to be closed.

While these decisions are beyond the control of the YMCA, we are committed to keeping you updated as often as necessary to minimize the impact of this situation on your family.

We are committed to providing updates as soon as we receive additional information. Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we work through this process.
