New Youth Programs Launch This Fall at the YMCA
More Opportunities for Teens to Stay Active, Build Confidence
As young people navigate school, friendships, wellness and personal growth, having a supportive community around them has never been more important.
This fall, YMCA Hamilton | Burlington | Brantford is expanding its youth programming with new sports leagues, fitness opportunities and leadership-focused experiences designed to help youth build confidence, stay active and connect with others in a positive environment. At the YMCA, we're committed to creating spaces where young people feel welcome, supported and empowered to reach their potential.
New Programs Designed for Youth
This season introduces several new opportunities for youth ages 10 to 15 to explore interests, develop skills and form lasting connections.
Youth Basketball League
Our new Youth Basketball League gives players ages 12–14 the opportunity to build basketball fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship through skill-building activities and game play. Participants will improve confidence, coordination and fitness while enjoying healthy competition and making new friends.
Youth Volleyball League
Youth can develop volleyball skills in a welcoming and supportive environment that focuses on teamwork, personal growth and fun. Participants will strengthen serving, passing, setting and gameplay fundamentals while building confidence along the way.
Youth Nights
Youth ages 10-18 can enjoy evenings of games and activities in the gym, followed by an hour of recreational swimming.
Strength & Conditioning
Youth Strength & Conditioning is available in two age-specific versions designed to help young members build confidence, develop fitness skills and learn safe exercise habits. The Jr. program introduces youth ages 10 to 12 to movement, coordination and physical literacy through fun, guided activities, while the 12 to 15 program builds on those foundations with an introduction to fitness centre skills and safe exercise practices that support lifelong wellness.
HER Sport Series
The HER Sport Series creates opportunities for teen girls to stay active, try new sports and develop leadership skills in a positive and supportive environment. Participants gain confidence while building teamwork skills and enjoying movement in a welcoming community. *Available at Les Chater Family YMCA in Fall but expanding to other branches in January 2027.
Something for Every Member of the Family
While these new youth programs are taking centre stage this fall, they're part of a broader YMCA experience that supports the whole family.
Parents can work out, swim or participate in health and wellness programs while children and youth learn new skills, stay active and make connections of their own. From swimming lessons and sports programs to fitness, recreation and leadership development opportunities, the YMCA offers experiences that grow with every stage of life.
New children's programs such as Artventures and Little Gardeners are also being introduced this fall, creating even more opportunities for young members to explore creativity, discover new interests and build confidence through play and learning.
