Camps Offered at Christie Lake Conservation Area to Resume Aug. 4
We are pleased to announce that YMCA Summer Day Camps operating at Christie Lake Conservation Area will resume Tuesday, August 4.
Due to extensive damage caused by an early morning fire on July 29, the following adjustments will be made for Camp Chippewa campers:
- Changing for beach activities will take place in a partitioned tent. If possible, send your child to camp with their bathing suit on.
- Porta potties and portable hand-washing stations will be used, in lieu of the facilities that were destroyed in the fire. There will be no access to flushing toilets for Junior and Intermediate campers.
- The location of camp activities will be adjusted. Junior and Intermediate Camper activities will be shifted slightly, while Senior Campers will use spaces around the Marina Pavilion. This pavilion is on the west side of the conservation area and is approximately a 20-minute walk to the swimming area. Caregivers dropping off/picking up Senior Campers should do so at the Marina Pavilion (see map).
All campers will continue to have the opportunity to participate in regularly scheduled programming including swimming, archery, arts and crafts, and games.
There will be no impact on campers in our Specialty Camps. Bus pick-up and drop-off and extended care will operate as usual. Details on these services can be found in our Field Guide.
It is our highest priority to maintain a safe environment, and we are committed to giving children the support, care and fun they deserve. Thank you for your understanding.
Families choosing to withdraw from Camp Chippewa can do so with no penalty by Friday, July 31. Please email your refund request to ymcadaycamps@ymcahbb.ca. We cannot accept refund requests over the phone.
