Helping Newcomers Settle in School

YMCA Settlement Workers are qualified to facilitate your integration into the local education system and community.

The SWIS program:

  • Offers settlement support and referrals to school and community resources
  • Encourages relationship building with school staff and fellow students and will facilitate this process for you
  • Helps you understand how the Hamilton school system works

If you're a parent, SWIS will engage and encourage you to participate in your child's education.

We'll help you get the best educational services for you and your family.

Ask for your SWIS worker at your child's school.
