YMCA Peace Medal Nominations

The 2024 YMCA Peace Medals will be presented at the 37th Annual YMCA Peace Medal Breakfast on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's.

Youth Awards (ages 25 and under)
Adult Awards (ages 26 and up)
International Awards

Deadline for nominations Friday, October 25, 2024.

Late and/or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Nominees' are kept on file for a total of three years.

Nomination Criteria

The actions of the nominee have demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of peace or the promotion of non-violence within the family, the community, our nation or internationally.
The nominee has developed, on their own or with others, a program or activity that contributes to a safe/non-violent community and promotes social justice and community cohesion.
The actions of the nominee as a 'peacemaker' will have motivated the local community.
The actions of the nominee will have demonstrated ways to live and promote peace and harmony in an increasingly diverse society.

For International Award nominees only - Activities must primarily benefit people living in other countries, outside Canada.

Please note, it is imperative that a nomination reflect compliance in all outlined criteria in order to be considered for a YMCA Peace Medal Award. All qualifying nominees will be contacted by the YMCA.

Impact - How have these activities helped to build peace and change people's lives?

Sustainability - How does this initiative create or contribute to a long-term, sustainable effect? Please explain.

Collaboration - Explain any collaboration or partnerships with other groups or individuals that are contributing to their solutions to violence, conflict, discrimination and/or promoting social justice and community cohesion.
