Escape to YMCA Wanakita Winter Lodge this winter to enjoy the frozen beauty of the Haliburton Highlands. With access to trails and snowy landscapes to explore through winter activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, and skating, Winter Lodge is the perfect way to enjoy an Ontario winter.
Your Winter Lodge experience includes your own private cabin, meals, self-guided activities, access to equipment, and more.
Your private winterized cabin is equipped with washroom facilities, shower, bunk beds, dining table, storage shelves, electricity, outdoor picnic table and firepit.
Premium accommodations are also available and include 5 - 6 separate bedrooms with 3 - 4 beds, 3 - 4 washrooms, Wi-Fi access, full kitchen, laundry facilities, living room space, dining table, outdoor picnic table and firepit.
Number of guests must adhere to current gathering limits directed by public health authorities.
Wi-Fi is available in premium accommodations only.
Meals delivered to your cabin
Your Winter Lodge stay includes all meals, prepared by our wonderful Food Service Team and delivered directly to your cabin door.
Upon arrival, guests will complete their Menu Options which will encompass all dietary restrictions so the kitchen can build your take-out meals just for you.
Meals can be enjoyed at your cabin's dining table indoors or around your campfire at your picnic table. Want to take your meal with you for your day on the trails? Let us know and we can pack your meal to-go.
The Dining Hall will be closed as per current provincial directives.

YMCA Wanakita is centrally located for access to OFSC trails and Haliburton Forest for snowmobilers. YMCA Wanakita trails are for non-motorized use only.

YMCA Wanakita sits on 1,000 acres and 1 km of continuous shoreline on Koshlong Lake in the Haliburton Highlands. The closest town is Haliburton, 15 minutes away, with grocery stores, department stores, pharmacies, restaurants, a hospital and library.

Cabins are winterized and heated. Cabins are equipped with washrooms, showers, bunk beds, electricity, storage shelving, dining table, outdoor picnic table, private firepit.
Premium accommodations are our Health Centre and Bayer Den. These accommodations have 5 - 6 separate rooms with 3 - 4 beds in each rooms, 3 - 4 washrooms, Wi-Fi access, full kitchen, laundry facilities, living room spaces, outdoor fire pit, dining table, picnic table and firepit.
For all accommodations, please bring your own linens (sheets, blankets or sleeping bags), pillows, towels, etc...
Wi-Fi is only available on site within premium accommodations.
All bookings must adhere to current capacity limitations on gatherings indoors.
The food is great! We provide delicious and nutritious meals with lots of options that both kids and adults love. Please let us know of any dietary requirements by completing the dietary form during the registration process. We can accommodate many requirements such as vegetarian, vegan, and most food allergies and religious dietary restrictions, when notified ahead of time.
Meals will be delivered to your cabin three times a day. We can also prepare your meals to-go if you would like to take your meal with you as you explore the trails and property.
YMCA Wanakita is taking all precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19 including a mandated vaccination policy for employees and following and/or exceeding public health guidelines.
All guests aged 12+ will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated by showing their enhanced vaccination certificate (with QR code) electronically or hard copy. You are considered fully vaccinated if 14 days have passed since you have received your second vaccination.
Individuals who possess proof of vaccination from outside of Ontario must contact our office at least 1 week in advance to confirm if their proof of vaccination will be accepted.
Guests who cannot provide their Ontario vaccine certificate, or who do not receive prior approval for alternate proof of vaccination, showing a full series of vaccinations with the final dose at least 14 days prior to check-in will be turned away and will not be eligible to enter the YMCA Wanakita property.
For those looking to come for a snowmobile getaway, YMCA Wanakita will offer parking for snowmobiles. While parking of snowmobiles and trailers will be permitted, the use of snowmobiles on Wanakita property is not permitted. However, our site is centrally located for access to local trail systems, including OFSC trails and Haliburton Forest.
Check-in time is from 6 - 9pm on the first day of your booking. Dinner is not provided on arrival day so we encourage guests to bring your own meal that evening.
Check-out is at 11am on your departure day.
Guests are able to purchase firewood from the Main Office for $7 per tote. Kindling bundles are available at the same rate. Matches can be provided.
At the time of booking, guests have the opportunity to express interest in hiring a Cross Country Skiing and/or Snowshoeing Guide for a full-day experience for an additional fee. Due to limited availability and scheduling, once we know you are interested, we will contact you to discuss scheduling and confirm availability.
Your guide can spend the day with your group providing instruction on cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and/or guided excursions on Wanakita's trail system.
Guided experiences will follow public health directives about gathering limits.
