All YMCA Health and Fitness centres are open. Pools at the Les Chater Family YMCA, Flamborough Family YMCA and Laurier Brantford YMCA will open for Lane Swim and Aquafit on August 30th. Pools at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA and Ron Edwards Family YMCA will reopen on September 13th. Additional programs and services will reopen in phases throughout August and September.

Masks are required while moving throughout the facility, in changerooms and while on the pool deck but may be removed while exercising.

To ensure physical distancing measures we are required to limit the number of people in a facility to 50% capacity at any time to comply with capacity requirements.

To monitor capacity and avoid line-ups, members are required to book online through our new YMCA Portal. Members may choose up to 2 bookings per day, up to 2 days in advance.

Fitness Centre Bookings:
As of Tuesday, September 7th members visiting the Fitness Centre for a workout will no longer be required to pre-book their visit. Members may access the Fitness Centre during regular hours of operation on a drop-in basis. Capacity limits apply.

Group Fitness Bookings:
Group Fitness classes are 45 minutes in length with a 15 minute break to allow members to transition to and from the class space. 

Aquatics Bookings:
Bookings for Lane Swim and Aquafit classes at the Les Chater Family YMCA, Flamborough Family YMCA and Laurier Brantford YMCA will open on August 28th for pool reopenings on August 30th. 


To book your workout or class at the YMCA, please follow the steps below:

  1. Visit YMCAHBB.CA
  2. Click 'My Y Account' at the top of the screen to be taken into the YMCA Portal.
  3. From here you can:
    • Search for programs
    • View the program calendar
    • Book your time
  4. To book your time right away, click 'Book a Workout' located in the top left menu.
  5. To refine your search, select the program offering from the menu on the left. You may further refine your search by selecting the age group.
  6. The search results will appear below. Choose the program you would like to book and select 'Register'.
  7. Once youve clicked 'Register' you will be guided through an easy process to choose which person on your account you would like to register in that program and then add the program to your cart.
  8. Once in your cart, review your registrations and click 'Proceed to Checkout'. Make sure you click through all of the steps until you click 'Complete Order.'
If you do not have email, you may phone the YMCA and a member of the YMCA Team will help book your workout.

Pools at the Les Chater Family YMCA, Flamborough Family YMCA and Laurier Brantford YMCA will reopen on August 30th, while pools at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA and Ron Edwards Family YMCA will reopen on September 13th. Please book your time by phoning or emailing your YMCA. Aquafit Pass holders are unable to book classes through the YMCA Portal at this time. 

Nothing is more important than the health and safety or our members and staff. We are following all regulations and guidelines from our government and public health officials to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We have enhanced cleaning and hygience practices and have implemented new safety measures to promote physical distancing. These new measures include the following:

Masks Required:

Effective Friday, October 16th, we will also require the use of masks while exercising in our Hamilton, Flamborough and Burlington YMCA health and fitness centres including on our conditioning floor, in weight areas, and during group fitness classes. 

The YMCA continues to monitor and work closely with local public health officials in the City of Brantford. We strongly recommend the use of masks while exercising at the Laurier Brantford YMCA and will continue to monitor the needs and adjust our mask protocols in Brantford accordingly should it be required.

Measures to support physical distancing:
  • Fitness equipment has been spaced apart to 6 feet or greater are clearly marked. This may also mean that some equipment will be temporarily unavailable for use.
  • Members are asked to maintain 3m distance from others while taking part in physical activity.
  • Group Fitness classes have been limited to 10 people (9 people plus 1 staff instructor). 
  • Capacity in our fitness centre is now limited to a maximum of 10 people per time slot. Members are required to book their time with us in advance. 
  • We have clear markings on the floor to indicate how far you will need to be from others at any given time.
  • In some facilities or spaces there may be directional flow for walking traffic.
Enhanced cleaning and hygiene:
  • Staff members will be visibly wearing protective equipment.
  • All members are required to wipe down equipment and workout spaces before and after use.
  • Our Staff Team will be continuously disinfecting high touch surface areas and cleaning continously throughout the day.
  • Increased signage and hand sanitization stations to remind everyone to wash and sanitize their hands regularly.
  • Disinfectant wipes will be available to clean equipment before and after use. 
Additional measures:
  • All members, volunteers and staff entering the centres will be screened for symptoms of ill-health and health-risks prior to entry.
  • We have established a convenient booking system that allows members to book their time with us and enable us to meet provincial regulations for capacity.
  • Areas or equipment that don't allow for physical distancing will remain temporarily closed.
  • Members are asked to bring some of their own equipment, including mats, racquets, basketballs and reusable water bottles.

If you are a member and did not receive an email with your username and activation link, please follow these steps:

  1. ​​On the YMCAHBB.CA website, click the blue 'My Y Account' button at the top of your screen to be taken to the YMCA Portal Home Page.
  2. Click 'Login' at the top right of the page.
  3. On the Login Page, click 'Activate my YMCA Portal account now!'
  4. On the activation page, you will be asked for your Membership Card number (barcode number located on the back of your card or key fob) as well as your street address, to locate your account in the system.
  5. When the system finds your account, you will be required to add your email address and save your account, which will now be activated.
If the system is unable to find an account match for your membership, please email your YMCA and a member of the YMCA Team will support you.

We recognize that not everyone is ready to return. If you wish to place your membership on a short-term hold, you may do so by contacting your YMCA by phone or email. We're ready for you when you're ready to return.
