We know you have questions on what to expect once we re-open our doors. Here are some frequently asked questions. Do you have a question or feedback? Please let us know.

We look forward to welcoming YMCA members back soon. We have carefully modified programs. amenities and protocols with the same friendly support and quality exercise options you know and love. Our priority is the safety of YMCA members and staff. We'll reopen our branches in a phased approach beginning throughout late August and early September. A full list of opening dates is provided below:

Nothing is more important than the health and safety or our members and staff. We are following all regulations and guidelines from our government and public health officials to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We have enhanced cleaning and hygience practices and are implementing new safety measures to promote physical distancing. These new measures include the following:

Measures to support physical distancing:

  • Fitness equipment has been spaced apart to 6 feet or greater and will be clearly marked. This may also mean that some equipment will be temporarily unavailable for use.
  • Group Fitness classes will be modified to limit the number of participants based on the size of the studio or room. 
  • We will limit the number of members in our centres at any given time. Members will be required to book their time with us in advance. 
  • We have clear markings on the floor to indicate how far you will need to be from others at any given time.
  • In some facilities or spaces there may be directional flow for walking traffic.
  • We're also exploring opportunities for outdoor fitness classes.
Enhanced cleaning and hygiene:
  • Staff members will be visible wearing protective equipment.
  • All members will be required to wipe down equipment and workout spaces before and after use.
  • Our Staff Team will be continuously disinfecting high touch surface areas and cleaning continously throughout the day.
  • Increased signage and hand sanitization stations to remind everyone to wash and sanitize their hands regularly.
  • Disinfectant wipes will be available to clean equipment before and after use. 
Additional measures:
  • All members, volunteers and staff will be screened for symptoms of ill-health and health-risks prior to entry.
  • We're exploring a convenient booking system that would allow members to book their time with us and enable us to meet provincial regulations for capacity.
  • Areas or equipment that don't allow for physical distancing will remain temporarily closed.
  • Members will be asked to bring some of their own equipment, including mats, racquets, basketballs and reusable water bottles.

We recognize that not everyone will be ready to return upon reopening. If you wish to extend the current hold on your membership, you may do so by completing a Membership Hold Form. We're ready for you when you're ready to return.

YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford continues to monitor and comply with all directives from our provincial and local public health authorities across the regions that we serve. 

We have carefully modified programs, amenities and protocols to meet provincial health guidelines. What remains the same is the quality exercise options, and friendly service and support you expect from the YMCA. Here is a simple checklist of the amenities and programs that will be available on opening day:

All members, volunteers and staff will be asked to completed a COVID-19 health screening prior to entering the facility. 

To ensure physical distancing measures we are required to limit the number of people in a facility at any time to comply with capacity requirements. We are currently exploring a convenient online booking system that would allow members to prebook a timeslot for their visit. 
 

In each of the regions we serve masks are mandatory in indoor public spaces where physical distancing is not possible. Therefore you will be required to wear a mask upon entry to the facility but according to health guidelines you are not required to wear a mask while swimming or during high intensity fitness classes or while using cardio equipment. Anyone who wishes to wear a mask may do so at any time. 

We will be modifying our hours of operation when we first reopen. Our teams are confirming these details and will provide regular updates as we get closer to re-opening.
