Camp Chippewa (Christie Conservation Area)
Age 14 (in calendar year)
In YMCA Leader in Training Level 1, your camper will develop camp-related skills such as canoeing, archery and large group leadership, while learning how to work as part of a team. Your child will also learn to promote YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility throughout their camp experience.
Leaders in Training Level 1 includes:
- planning and delivering a new group game
- special needs integration
- observing campers in various age groups
- debriefing about observation experiences
- job search skills
- asset building
- group planning a theme day activity
- youth gambling prevention
Leaders may have the opportunity to sleep out to provide assistance and leadership to the Camp Fundamentals sleep over.
Prerequisite: Leader in Training Level 1 and campers must turn age 14 in the program year.
Staff to camper ratio is 1:15.
Busing is provided.
Cost: $211 / 2-week session (Available weeks 1-2 and 3-4. Must attend full two week session.)
