Public Open Swim at the YMCA HBB
Open swim is an all-ages leisure swim reserved for members. It's a great way to be active and have fun together.
Recreational Swimming - Aquatic Admission Criteria
0 - 6 years: Must be supervised by an adult or guardian (minimum 14 years of age) in the water. Maximum 2:1 ratio.
7 - 9 years: If able to pass swim test, child may swim independently. Adult or guardian (minimum 14 years of age) must remain on the pool deck. If unable to pass swim test, child must be supervised in the water by adult or guardian (minimum of 14 years). Maximum 2:1 ratio.
10 years +: Are welcome to use the pool, subject to their swimming abilities.
Equipment
While members are permitted to bring water equipment to their registered swim time, certain restrictions have been placed for the safety and enjoyment of all swimmers.
Members are welcome to bring the following clean and sanitized equipment:
Lifejacket or PFD
Pool noodle
AquaFit weights or gloves
AquaFit belts
Goggles
Kick boards/flutter boards
Water shoes
Swim fins (lane swims only)
The following equipment are not permitted:
Snorkels
Glass swim masks/scuba masks
Monofins (aka mermaid fins)
Balls
Large floats, innertubes
Please note that equipment use is also at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty and may be modified for the safety and enjoyment of all swimmers.
