YMCA Pre-school Child Care

The YMCA Pre-school Child Care Program is committed to the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, and we further each child’s development through the following goals:

  • To support and strengthen the family unit
  • To help children develop to their fullest potential
  • To care for children in a safe, positive environment

You can also find out more about our program in our Pre-school Child Care Brochure.

Playing to Learn Curriculum

Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of YMCA Pre-school Child Care is the Playing to Learn approach. YMCA Playing to Learn is a national curriculum (developed by YMCA of Greater Toronto) that helps children discover learning through creative play and aligns with primary school benchmarks.

YMCA Playing to Learn provides an understanding of how play is the foundation for learning to read and write, and for learning mathematics, science and technology. We believe YMCA Playing to Learn is the best approach to ensure a child's continued enthusiasm and capacity for lifelong learning.

YMCA School-Age Child Care

Also known as before-and-after school care, YMCA School Age Child Care gives parents peace of mind. Each program is based out of the school the child attends, thereby providing them with a seamless day in one location. Every program is staffed by YMCA trained professionals, selected for their educational background and aptitude for working with children. The end result is a safe, nurturing environment to begin and end their day at school.

There are a total of 73 school age programs offered throughout Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford. To find out if YMCA School Age Child Care is offered at your child’s school, click on the following links.
