YMCA Career Development & Learning employment programs assist individuals who are out of work or under-employed build skills and find suitable employment.


Job Connect
The Job Connect Program provides undemployed youth access to services they need to find and keep jobs or return to school.

Summer Jobs Service
Assists students 15 - 24 years of age obtain summer employment.  Youth are provided information, knowledge and skills to find a job.

Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program
A program to provide unemployed or underemployed youth with work experience through internships in federal organizations.

Employment Workshops
Numerous professional and life skills workshops are available to participants of all ages. Topics include: Resume writing, interviewing and many more.

Halton Skills Direct
Halton Skills Direct assists individuals who lack marketable skills with identifying and research training options in order to re-enter the labour market. Funded by the Government of Canada.

YMCA eworx!
YMCA eworx! is an Electronig Job Finding Club which is delivered at the YMCA Career Development & Learning Centre in Burlington.  It operates on a 2 week sycle and uses the computer as a tool in oder for unemployed individuals to conduct their job search.

Pre-Apprenticeship Programs
Youth will be provided access to an assortment of trades and apprenticeships through this program. Call 905-681-1140 for more information on the programs offered by the YMCA.

Career Cruiser
A mobile career centre that provides employment and career development services in the suburbs and rural commities of the city of Hamilton. The air stream trailer is equipped with computers, the Internet and current career-related information. Funded by Human Resources Development Canada.

Careerworx!
A youth career and employment resource centre located in Hamilton, managed by the YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington and funded by Human Resources Development Canada.

Youth in Transition
Designed for youth who are under 30 years of age, out of work or under-employed and a resident of the city of Hamilton. Funded by Human Resources Development Canada.

Employment Workshops
Numerous professional and life skills workshops are available to participants of all ages. Topics include: Resume writing, interviewing and many more.
