Gervais Family Education Award
This award is offered annually to provide one or more YMCA Wanakita summer leadership staff support to pursue post secondary education. An amount up to $3,000 is available annually (i.e. 1 individual at $3000, or 2 individuals at $1,500 each, or 3 individuals at $1,000 each).
Application Process
Applicants are asked to complete the application form along with 2 letters in support of their application. Applicants must be planning to enroll in educational programs within the next 12 months. Confirmation of registration will be required before the award is provided.
Please note that the application form includes a request for financial information. If your family’s financial resources, or your own, are a significant barrier for you to pursue continued education, please make reference to this in your cover letter.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be judged by the Education Awards Committee (YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford CEO, YMCA Wanakita General Manager, YMCA Wanakita supervisors, Gervais Family representative)
- Career Plans
- Past contributions to the YMCA and community
- Involvement with YMCA Wanakita as a camper, in the leadership program and as staff
- Financial Need
All nomination forms and letters/supporting documentation must be typed.
